Applications for the program can be made free of charge at platform website. Young people between the ages of 20 and 34, who have completed high school and who are living in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, where the company operates oil platforms, will be able to participate in the selection.
The program is a company initiative, which is now active in 19 countries, becoming a global Shell initiative. This year, the program completes 22 years in Brazil. However, the new cycle, according to Maria Angert, responsible for Shell's Social Responsibility in the country, has something new: it is divided into “ideation” and “operation” phases.
The focus of the ideation phase is on projects that are in the preliminary stages. “If a person has only one idea, they can enter the ideation cycle. There is no need to have an established business,” said Maria. The term “operating cycle” is used to describe more mature businesses at a more advanced stage of commercialization. This is a new development. Before, there was only one class.
More details on how the process works
Two groups of program participants will be chosen, with 200 young people for the ideation phase and 80 for the operational phase. They will undergo a significant immersion that will last from three to six months and will include training, offices and mentoring. The immersion is expected to start in August.
The young people chosen will participate in the current goods and services fair that the program resumes this year at the Museum of Tomorrow, in Rio de Janeiro. The best projects will be chosen by an evaluation committee, and will be able to compete in the Top 10 Global Entrepreneurs contest, which will take place between November 14th and 20th.
