One of the favorite pieces of teenagers can arouse curiosity in parents. This is because many young people tend to wear sweatshirts in the heat, something apparently inappropriate, due to the high temperatures and the heavier composition of the garment. However, scientists indicate that wearing a sweatshirt can bring psychic comfort.

Comfort feeling similar to a comforter
The meteorologist and former president of the American Meteorological Society, Marshall Shepherd, motivated by the use of sweats on hot days by his only 15-year-old son, decided to investigate whether there is scientific support for people, especially younger ones, to use the garment even in the summer.
According to him, curiosity happens due to global warming, which causes warmer days and summers, with high temperatures. That's because sweatshirts are pieces with heavier and warmer fabrics, made to be worn in the colder seasons of the year, such as autumn and winter.
Thus, the first conclusions came from reading an essay published in Mel Magazine, by researcher Ian Lecklitner. In this study, the scientist lists the benefits of using the garment even in summer, such as protection against ultraviolet rays and mosquitoes, extra pockets and good perception of body image.
The researcher also claims that sweatshirts offer physical and emotional comfort, similar to that of a heavy blanket or duvet. It's similar to the feeling of covering yourself up when going to bed on the coldest days: emotional comfort and protection.
Blankets are like support for various psychic conditions
Also according to Marshall Shepherd, in the scientific literature there are several studies on the benefits arising from the use heavy blankets, especially in cases of people with autism spectrum, anxiety, hyperactivity and even insomnia.
The trend, however, is not limited to teenagers. As written in Trail Runner running magazine, runners are turning to lighter-weight, long-sleeved hoodies, during workouts for comfort, UV protection and multi-functionality, as the outfit can be worn to bars or malls.
