Uber makes changes to its app to increase user safety

Last week, Uber updated its app's interface. The platform now enables an option that allows users to view and assess safety levels during the race, in real time. Thus, as a way to increase the visibility of the app's functionality and the security of users, the option "Checking Security” (located in the upper right corner of the screen) offers three forms of protection that can be activated during the trip. Uber User Safety Tools

Now see the details of the three protection options available in the transport application.

  • trusted contacts

In this option, you can share your location, status and other travel information with friends and family. With this, they can track you and your journey in real time.

In addition, you can also register an emergency contact that Uber will call if the platform cannot reach you in an emergency.

  • “U-Help” mode

With this mode activated, if an accident occurs during a race or an unexpected stop in route, you will receive a notification from the app that will show you all the safety features available.

One of these tools is calling the police, another is sharing a ride or contacting Uber directly if it's not an emergency.

  • The “U-Code” option

Many delivery apps already use this model, including iFood. Using this feature, you can share a code with the driver before entering the vehicle to verify that you are entering the correct vehicle. The number is unique for each trip, making it even safer.

How do I activate this function?

  • To get started, launch your app and tap on your profile picture (located in the top right corner of the screen);
  • After that, click on “Settings” and then on “Confirm your trip”;
  • At the end, choose the option to the right of the phrase “Use the code to confirm trips” and then finish by pressing “Ready”.

Note: If you prefer, you can also activate this feature only at night (from 9 pm to 6 am).
