To celebrate its first decade, the company decided to create an innovative campaign. All buyers of the Mi 1 cell phone (the brand's first model) have received great news. Xiaomi will refund the amount spent by all consumers.
In all, 184,600 M1 phones were sold at a cost of 1,999 yuan. In the free conversion, it would be something around R$ 1.5 thousand. The approximate sum of all devices results in almost R$ 300 thousand. This is the amount that the Chinese manufacturer will disburse with its initiative.
How to request a refund?
To request the bonus, if you have purchased a Mi 1, the procedure is simple. Just have the login and password of the Mi ID that was used when purchasing the device through the Xiaomi online store.
Therefore, reimbursement will not be made exactly in cash. Contemplated consumers will receive credit to buy a new cell phone at the brand's store.
Although the money is not enough to buy a top-of-the-line Xiaomi, it is possible to get interesting products. The Note 10 Pro and Poco X3 Pro devices cost around R$ 1.5 thousand. In addition, there are other home and wearable technology products for the same price.
Xiaomi's growth
The Mi 1 was launched in China in 2011. At the time, the launch was remarkable, as the brand came out ahead of its competitors. It launched an affordable smartphone before other brands such as OnePlus.
Originally, the Mi 1 came with a 4-inch screen. The keys were capacitive touch and multitasking. The original camera had 8 MP on the back and 2 MP on the front. Although it seemed little, for the time it was an interesting configuration.
Xiaomi's smartphone still featured a Qualcomm MSM8260 dual-core SoC processor and 1 GB of RAM.
Over time Xiaomi grew and, in 2021, became the largest smartphone company in the world. In June it surpassed Samsung and Apple momentarily.
