how to grow tulips
Vase
Carefully choose the size of the vase in which your tulip will be planted. It should be at least 30cm long and have plenty of drainage holes.
Ground
Prefer to place the soil in layers: underneath, a layer with pebbles, then one with organic earth and, the top one, with sand. This way your soil will always be well drained, avoiding waterlogging.
Lighting
Choose very sunny places to grow your tulip, but take care that they don't get too much sun all day.
watering
Prefer to use sprayers so as not to wet the tulips in excess, soggy soils can kill your plant in a few days.
fertilizers
It is important to fertilize the tulip at the beginning of fall and the spring to favor growth. Liquids are best distributed evenly over the soil.
Maintenance
Check for pests such as aphids, and always remove old, wilted leaves and flowers.
What to do after the flowers die?
Although tulips are known for their flowers, after they die the plant remains evergreen and also needs care.
After the tulips dry out, stop watering and fertilizing the plant so it dries out completely and you can replant it.
Remove yellowed leaves to give new leaves a chance to emerge. You can also dig up the bulb to use for replanting.
Winters are always the best times for repotting, I placed the bulb flat side to down, cover with 5 cm of mixture containing earth, sand and organic matter and leave it in a place sunny.
Tulips planted in pots can be moved to cool places like garages and basements so they can rest in the months leading up to spring.
Keep the soil always moist, but never soggy. Remember that the tulip is a very delicate plant that requires daily care to always look beautiful.
