Upon opening the bag, experts were surprised by simply intact perfume samples. The Edwardian aroma emanating from these fragrances filled the expedition's laboratory, creating a fascinating atmosphere. The discovery also revealed the owner of the samples: Adolphe Saalfeld, a German Jew who boarded the Titanic with the aim of making a name for himself in the perfume business in the United States.

During the sinking, Saalfeld abandoned his precious samples as he tried to escape. It was only after almost 89 years that the expedition managed to recover these fragrances from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the purse found, a total of 62 samples of perfumes bearing Saalfeld's name were rescued.

The samples were taken to the company Quest International, specialized in perfumes, where specialists carried out chemical analyzes to discover the composition of the perfumes. The result was the recreation of the fragrance, giving rise to the enveloping perfume 'Legacy 1912″.
