“We know that, by 11 to 0, the STF overturned a municipal law that prohibited gender ideology. So, the law is municipal. Yesterday I already asked Major Jorge [Oliveira], our minister [of the General Secretariat], to provide a law, a federal project. And we must present this project today with constitutional urgency,” said Bolsonaro.

At the end of last month, on April 25, 11 ministers of the Federal Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, judged unconstitutional the Law 1.516/2015 do Novo Gama (GO), which prohibited the “dissemination of material with reference to gender ideology in municipal schools in Novo Gama”.

According to the Attorney General's Office (PGR), when establishing a ban on the use of didactic material mentioning sexual diversity, the municipal law invaded the competence of the Union.
