According to information from the Military Police, a 25-year-old individual invaded a day care center in Blumenau this Wednesday (5) and, using a hatchet, attacked several children who were in a park at the back of the unit.
At least four victims were killed. The suspect, who arrived at the scene on a motorcycle and jumped the wall, was arrested after turning himself in at the Military Police Battalion.

Incident Location
The nursery is located in the Velha neighborhood, identified as Cantinho Bom Pastor Early Childhood Education Center, in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina.
According to information, five children were attacked, four of whom were injured and one of them is in serious condition. The Santo Antônio Hospital confirmed the receipt of the victims, all aged between zero and two years.
The occurrence mobilized several teams, including the Military Police, Fire Department, Samu, traffic agents and private ambulances. The situation on site was one of confusion and despair, with parents crowding around the education unit.
Drivers broke traffic lights to get to the day care center and traffic was even interrupted, with access to Rua dos Caçadores being blocked. The State Board of Criminal Investigations (Deic) will be responsible for investigating the attack.
Governor's Statement
Governor Jorginho Mello is in Joinville, where he received the news of the attack that took place at the day care center in Blumenau. With regret, he confirmed that an assassin invaded the Cantinho do Bom Pastor day care center, attacking children and staff. Sadly, four victims passed away.
The governor determined the action of the security forces, which are already on site. The killer has been arrested and Jorginho Mello expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims, asking God to comfort them in this moment of pain.
