This Friday, the 19th, the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil ordered the collection of four batches of beans belonging to the brands “Da Mamãe” and “Sanes” that were perceived as unfit for consumption human.

In their characteristics, the products had a quantity of moldy and burned grains above the permitted limit, a serious health risk indicator, according to the folder.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Agriculture, the director of the Department of Inspection of Products of Plant Origin, Hugo Caruso, explained about the risks: “These grains can contain mycotoxins that are harmful to the body, which cause food poisoning and reactions allergic”.
The beans were found in the Rio de Janeiro and in the Federal District. For users in the regions it is important to check the lots. The batches are: batch 51 of colored beans and batch 06 of black beans, both belonging to the Da Mamãe brand; and lots 030423 and 080323 of Sanes brand black beans.
In addition, they had already been identified in a Ministry operation in April. It resulted in the seizure of more than 150 tons of beans. All products had to undergo laboratory analysis which confirmed non-compliance with the required standards that guarantee safe human consumption.

It was advised by the Ministry of Agriculture that consumers who find any of the four lots being sold should report it immediately. Those who have purchased the product must stop using it and contact the retailer where they purchased it to return or dispose of it properly.
