Elon Musk mocks the disability of one of his employees
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has just been involved in yet another controversy with his employees, this time the case happened due to to a public tweet made by Haraldur Thorleifsson, who is the founder of Ueno, a digital agency that has been part of Twitter since 2021.
In this tweet, Haraldur Thorleifsson questions the CEO of Twitter if he still remains an employee of the company, given that he has not been able to log in for 9 days. He claims that he would have tried to contact the company's HR before making the tweet, but no one knew whether he was still active or not.
The publication of Haraldur Thorleifsson
In the publication Haraldur Thorleifsson said the following: “Dear @elonmusk. 9 days ago, access to my work computer was cut off, along with about 200 other Twitter employees. However, your head of HR is not able to confirm whether I am an employee or not. You haven't replied to my emails. Maybe if enough people retweet it you'll reply to me here?"
After noticing Thorleifsson's Tweet, Elon Musk responded by questioning what his role would be in the company and Thorleifsson responded by stating that he could not say publicly without the approval of the lawyers from Musk.
Upon receiving permission, Thorleifsson cited all of his roles, which were: “Lead activity to save $500,000 on a SaaS contract; act as hiring manager for all design roles; prioritize design projects to accommodate the smaller team twitter.”
Musk responded by asking which specific projects, Thorleifsson replied that they would all be design and received two laughing emoticons in response.
A debate arose after the dialogue
After that, several questions arose about the response and Musk debated one of them mocking Thorleifsson, stating that he could never be fired since he did not work. It is noteworthy that Thorleifsson has muscular dystrophy.
The comment had very negative repercussions for Musk who soon after publicly apologized on Twitter.
“I would like to apologize to Halli for my misunderstanding of her situation. It was based on things I was told were false or in some cases true but not meaningful. He is considering staying on Twitter.”
