The baths stopped in 2015
When granting an interview in 2015, Dr. James Hamblin decided he was going to stop bathing to try out a new experiment. The following years served to prove his expectations. Initially, it may cause surprise, but the doctor assured that the body will get used to it over time.
“There are people who rarely shower and I knew it was possible, so I tried it to see the effect. Over time, the body gets more and more used to not smelling bad without using deodorant or soap ”, he pointed out about the experience of not using cosmetics, such as deodorant and soap.
doctor James stated that the skin stops getting oily when you don't use the most aggressive soaps to the skin. He also pointed out that he did not fail to wash his hands with soap whenever possible, as well as brushing his teeth to avoid causing future damage.
When asked about not using hair products, the doctor explained. “The shampoo strips the hair of its natural oils and the conditioner replaces them with synthetic oils. If you can break this cycle, your hair will look like it did before using these products.”
Experience took place in stages
To get to that level, the process doesn't happen quickly. Until you stop bathing completely, make use of cosmetics it was a gradual experience. At first, he said that the smell was very bad and that he felt dirty, but little by little the feeling passed.
In his book 'Clean: The New Science of Skin', the doctor says that the act of bathing is something completely modern, because "most people did not have access to water until the last 100 years".
With experience, Dr. James stated that bathing is not necessary. "A preference, not a medical necessity." He stated that the reduction with water makes the attitude even more ecologically correct.
With that, the doctor pointed out that he only wanted to carry out an experiment and that he does not recommend other people to follow the path. He showed that everyone needs to follow what is best for them.
