D-ID, a company launched in 2017, aims to create an artificial intelligence perfectly similar to a human. The priority of the creation is that it is almost impossible to define the difference between a real human and the creation of the robot. For similarity, the company has used a range of artificial intelligence to create a robot or as human-like as possible, including: intelligence of texts, speeches, image and personality. So far, the project is far from achieving what has been planned. The main objective of the creation is to prevent ordinary people from being monitored through facial recognition.
D-ID's first production featured the personality animation part, with the creation of avatar. The quality of the avatar is still far from ideal and the speech can still be considered far from what has been intended. The purely human sensation has been difficult to capture and convey through a robot.
The creation of an avatar that is closer to reality has offered Premium Presenter, a technology useful for anyone wanting to run marketing campaigns, being Gil Perry, co-founder of Fast Company Brazil.
What are the next steps?
The other phase is making sure the avatars work in real time. Faster production of an avatar can guarantee higher quality, but this is far from being a real problem.
The biggest challenge has been in conversation and text, specifically, in bringing together these two essential components in human communication. Gil Perry, like a great optimist, is confident that within 5 months this will cease to be a problem. For image quality, a time of 2 years is estimated to ensure improvement.
Time for human robot launch is needed, as Perry surmised, as humans need to get used to the technology.
