As reported by Mirror, the Public Ministry of Braunschweig reported today that it cannot confirm whether the items recovered during excavations in Portugal are related to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The area where the items were found is approximately 30 miles from Praia de Luz, where Madeleine was last seen shortly before her fourth birthday in 2007.
According to information released in June 2020, the German police announced that possibly Madeleine McCann is dead and suspected that Christian Brückner was likely responsible for the disappearance. The reservoir was the target of investigations because it was the favorite place of the main suspect.
Last week, therefore, the investigation was conducted by detectives from the Federal Criminal Police (BKA), in collaboration with Portuguese and British police, who carried out a search of the land close to the Barragem do Arad.
This search is part of investigators' ongoing efforts to find evidence that could link Christian Brückner to Madeleine McCann's disappearance. It is noteworthy that this was the first search carried out in nine years. The objects found in the investigation are being analyzed by the police.
During the search carried out in the area, the investigators used radars, search teams and sniffer dogs in the reservoir. As part of this operation, wells with a depth of half a meter were dug.
Soil recovered from these wells is being subjected to forensic analysis in Germany in order to seek possible evidence related to the case.
The search, according to the local Public Ministry, was successful and completed in three days.
