To be covered by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) as an insured person, there are a series of requirements that must be followed in order to receive aid from the Institute. This program, provided by the government, offers some benefits to workers, but many are unaware of the opportunities.
For this reason, see below a very good benefit for INSS insured persons and how you can enroll.

“Grace period!” offered by the INSS
There was a time when the INSS called it a “grace period” to still receive benefits from the Institute, but many people are unaware of this. For those who work with a formal contract and are dismissed, an INSS grace period will be determined (a period of 12 months).
So, when proven involuntary unemployment, you earn another 12 months. This period can be extended by 12 months if the insured has made contributions for more than 120 consecutive months resulting in the loss of insured status.
That is, the mandatory insured person will maintain his rights for up to 24 months, regardless of contributions. In addition, if the insured person loses his job, the period may be increased by another 12 months, totaling 36 months of grace period.
optional contribution
The grace period will be six months for those who contribute voluntarily. In the case of the Armed Forces, for example, the deadline is three months. It is worth mentioning that when leaving the grace period, you do not lose what you have already contributed to the INSS. With this, the periods will be combined (current period plus previous contributions).
As a result, you will regain your security and entitlement to pre-existing coverage. This happens when you make your first contribution to return. However, as you have returned to contribute, you will not have immediate access to all the benefits.
To do this, you must continue contributing until you reach the minimum number of contributions required to receive a benefit. To be entitled to benefits, it is recommended that you reach a certain number of contributions, which the INSS calls a “deficiency period”.
