Measures to reduce fuel prices
Minister Sachsida's predictions were based on changes included in Complementary Law 194/2022. This proposes limiting the collection of the Tax on the Circulation of Fuel Goods (ICMS) on fuel, communications, electricity and public transport.
Recently enacted, this law results from a complementary bill (PLP) 18/2022, which was also approved in the Chamber. The minister also includes in his predictions the measures discussed in the Federal Supreme Court (STF) on diesel taxation.
In this case, Sachsida predicts that, in diesel, the reduction should be a little smaller, reaching 1.7% with a fall from R$ 7.68 to R$ 7.55. In the case of ethanol, it is possible that it will reduce by 6.1%. In this way, the liter would fall from R$ 4.87 to R$ 4.57 in the national average.
And what about gas?
On the subject of kitchen gas, the price cut should reach 2.3%. Therefore, the price equivalent to a gas cylinder would go from R$ 112.70 to R$ 110.07.
According to the Minister of Mines and Energy himself, the country is on the right path by reducing taxes on the price of fuel. “We are giving the correct answer. So much so that the rest of the whole world is trying to do it. The United States is trying to do just that. Europe is trying to do this. The difference is that in Brazil we already did it, ”she said.
