Trends come and go. It wouldn't be any different with decorations. In the case of a room, this is even more obvious, as each person is different, especially when it comes to decoration and personal taste.
See what trends designers say aren't gaining any popularity these days.
Completely white: according to Los Angeles realtor Lori Levine Harris: “Doing everything white has its days numbered. Over the past decade, we've seen white walls, white tile, and Carrara marble. People are tired of these bland palettes, and designers are bringing color – which we love.”
Others also agree that all-white kitchens are becoming dull and have soon lost their value. Alice Arterberry and Barrett Cooke of Arterberry Cooke believe that newer spaces will have between two and three shades of contrasting. Alice commented: “Monochrome kitchens lack depth and visual interest. Complementary tones in a kitchen can elevate the area while remaining timeless.”
Open spaces and American cuisine: this style is still a controversial subject, because although it is somewhat practical, many people have grown tired of this style. For example, Harris' clients have been asking to close the kitchen walls.
“Especially for families, people no longer want to see dirty plates and cereal boxes while dining or entertaining. We have clients with open spaces who are building walls to separate their kitchens from their dining rooms. This more traditional style is making a comeback with the kitchen, dining room and living room all compartmentalized. It allows you to organize a unique space.”
Appliances in black color: interior designer Sara Weichel of Swike had this to say about the home appliance trend dark in color: “The matte black cabinet never really appealed to me, but I understand that some appreciate the nature minimalist and the darker tones when opting for a prettier look”.
To move away from pure black and continue opting for more dark, Weichel recommends using oil-polished bronze for a more up-to-date look.
