Increased social anxiety of the sensible generation

As mentioned earlier, these young people choose to stay within a comfort zone with like-minded friends, with much of their social activity being virtual. This can eventually lead to teens' social anxiety when they have to interact with others live and in color.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, social isolation, consequently, also ended up contributing to this comfort zone, since young people stopped attending different environments, such as school and work. With the disease under control and lives returning to normal, many struggled with anxiety. social or professional life, coupled with general self-confidence and relationship problems when confronted with the reality.

In addition, they were considered “sensible generations” for their focus on social issues, healthy living and lower alcohol consumption. Experts believe that this “deprivation” causes them to miss out on great experiences. Natalie Phillips, a psychotherapist who works with young people aged 11 to 25, shared some conclusions she drew based on an academic study, published in the British Journal of Sociology:

1. drink less alcohol

On this issue, young people from the sensible generation say they drink less alcohol because they feel under control. pressure to perform well academically, are health conscious and don't want to miss out on control.

Additionally, 70% of young people surveyed said they feel pressured to study, to succeed academically and have a good career, leaving them with less time to party.

2. social situations

This generation does not go through situations that, whether they like it or not, are part of life and help to shape them as a person in the future. We fear that their world will become introspective – which can cause much greater anxiety.
