Know the ingredients
This wonderful recipe emerged in the th century in the United States, by the country's Jewish community. This unusual use of green tomatoes gave rise to a dish with crispy, light, refreshing and delicious pasta. See the list of ingredients:
- Green tomatoes;
- Salt to taste;
- Pepper to taste;
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder;
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs;
- 1 cup wheat flour;
- 3 eggs;
- ½ cup of milk;
- Soy oil.
Prepare the mixtures for breading
First you must separate the ingredients for breading into three bowls or plates. In one of them, pour only the wheat flour and a pinch of salt, mix and set aside. Then, in a bowl, break the 3 eggs, add the liquid milk and mix.
Finally, the last breading is with breadcrumbs. It must be seasoned to give greater flavor to tomatoes. To do this, put the breadcrumbs in a bowl and add salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Mix well and book.
bread the tomatoes
To carry out a good breading with satisfactory results and a very crispy skin, you must follow this sequence.
- Start by cutting the tomatoes into strips about 2 cm thick. If possible, quickly pass them on a paper towel to remove excess water, leaving them much drier and crispier.
- Start with the wheat flour, covering the whole tomato with the flour and giving it a light squeeze to ensure it has good adhesion.
- Then dip the tomato into the egg and milk mixture. You can use a fork to make this bath easier.
- Finally, take them to the breadcrumbs and also lightly squeeze the tomato so that the flour covers all parts.
- Now it's just frying! One tip is that the oil must be very hot to ensure the desired crispiness!
