Advertisers in the United States of America (USA) have already started using the new feature. Through static images or in the form of a carousel, it is possible to insert advertisements. Ads appear within the Instagram Shop.
Facebook, in general, has already made it clear that it wants to give a marketing function to its social networks. On Instagram it will be no different. More than connecting people and generating engagement, one of the goals for some time has been sales.
The Instagram Shop test ad model is based on an auction. For now, only smartphones should take advantage of the tool. Incidentally, the Shop itself is exclusive to cell phones, as well as most of the platform's resources.
The algorithm will interpret user behavior to display the best ads. This already happens with most Ads resources, both from Facebook and Google. One of the goals is not to “exaggerate” the advertisements, to the point of discouraging the consumer.
Despite the tests having started exclusively in the USA, the service will soon be expanded. Advertisers from other countries will use the tool.
Affiliate Content Creators
In June of this year, Instagram announced a new feature that promises to attract even more users to the platform. It will be possible to become an affiliate seller.
Today, influencers are able to inform the Instagram Shop stores and brands of the products they are using on their profiles. In addition, it is also possible to establish dissemination partnerships. However, with the affiliate feature, the content creator will be able to earn commission for items sold within the app.
Users and content creators will provide purchase links for certain products indicated by them. For each sale made, a commission amount will be paid.
This is a practice that already occurs in parallel. Many Instagram accounts provide links in BIO with some service or product offer in order to make sales.
The advantage of having a proprietary system is that it prevents users from leaving the platform. Plus, it makes it easier for people to buy directly from their favorite creators.
Likewise, advertising businesses and brands will have a new way to partner on Instagram.
