New radars will capture high speed before electronic speed bumps

Brazil is reinforcing electronic traffic control measures in several cities across the country. The new ones radars will operate in 100% of the national territory very soon, which means the end of tricks to dodge speeding fines.

Contrary to what still happens in many regions, the new radars are able to measure average speed in a different way.

New radars detect speed more accurately and more comprehensively

This new technology can capture the speed of a vehicle tens of meters away, both before and after the checkpoint. That is, even before getting close to the radar, the driver has already been caught in his speed.

The new radars operate using the doppler effect, measuring the frequency variation of electromagnetic or sound waves. From the way the image of a vehicle appears during its movement is enough to determine its exact speed.

In addition, large Brazilian cities already have the technology present in the streets and avenues. Drivers who still insist on braking a little before the surveillance cameras to speed up again have already started receiving fines at home.

Road network 100% inspected?

Despite the advances, it is important to point out that the new radars still have a certain range limitation. They just monitor the location close to where they are installed. However, the “view” radius of the lenses is much larger compared to older devices.

In São Paulo, for example, the equipment is already in operation and the government plans to increase its quantity. Therefore, if you are traveling through large cities, it is better to respect the laws of Traffic and remain below the predetermined maximum speed.

Soon, smaller municipalities will also receive kits with the new radars, according to a statement issued by Contran.
