Archaeologists discover artifacts that refer to a "fairy world"

A team of Chinese archaeologists has dedicated itself to the search for historical finds at the archaeological site of Sanxingdui, which is located in Sichuan, China. But this is not the first time that there have been searches in this place, as it was already the target of excavations in the 1980s. In this case, six new wells underwent an excavation that began in 2020 and continues to reveal new materials. However, what draws the most attention is the ritualistic character of the antiquities, which seem to artifacts from the fairy world.

enchanted artifacts

One of the most striking pieces is a bronze sculpture of a snake with a human head. In fact, most of these artifacts are made of this material, but it was also possible to find others based on gold and jade. Archaeologists even discovered a bronze box with gold masks, as well as bronze altars.

According to the leader of the excavations, Professor Zhao Hao of Peking University, these materials suggest very ancient rites, from the Bronze Age. This statement was given to Xinhua News Agency, which specializes in news from China.

Still according to Hao, all the sculptures are very complex, imaginative and refer to a kind of “fairy world” that these peoples lived in. On the other hand, so far there is no evidence of human burials or cremation of ancient bodies, which would be very useful for further studies.

The Bronze Age

These articles all point to the Bronze Age, which happened between 3,500 and 4,000 years ago. In this case, historians point to the wealth and usefulness that bronze carried at that time, mainly due to the ability to melt it and use it for new constructions. Furthermore, burning bronze and gold, as well as breaking or transforming them, is a feature of these ancient peoples in their rituals.

Finally, they even buried the pieces they made, like the masks we mentioned, perhaps in an attempt to get rid of some problem in society. Thus, although the structure of the excavation site suggests a cemetery, it may just be a place to bury treasures in rituals.
