Sustainable gasoline begins to be manufactured on a large scale

Scientists, researchers and specialists have been searching for many years for a sustainable and affordable alternative to gasoline, which continues to be used as a fuel. This is because the traditional version uses oil in its composition, which turns out to be quite harmful to the environment. The good news is that this can change.

Sustainable fuel is real

Now, it seems, we will finally have access to the sustainable alternative of a synthetic gasoline that is being produced in large scale after the tests. Another good thing is that, as it does not use oil in its composition, the fuel also ends up being even cheaper than the traditional one found at gas stations.

As mentioned at the beginning, synthetic gasoline has been studied for some time and seen as a possible and plausible alternative, however production was being carried out only on a small scale, for experiments and other tests that could confirm the expectations about it really being able to fulfill what is expected.

On December 20, 2022, in Magalhães, a city located in the south of Chile, the first factory for the large-scale production of this sustainable gasoline was installed. The operation was carried out through a partnership between large companies in the field, such as Siemens Energy, Porsche and Hif Global.

According to Siemens Energy, approximately 130,000 liters of this new fuel will be produced this year, at least in the initial phase. The expectation is that this amount will gradually increase until 55 million liters are produced annually. If everything goes as planned, it will be possible to produce approximately 550 million liters of synthetic fuel.

The interesting thing about this gasoline is that it can be seen as an electro fuel due to its composition. To be manufactured, the fuel uses “Haru Oni”, which combines neutral gasoline, e-Methanol, water, CO2 and electricity, using the hydrogen as the main synthesizer of this special gasoline.
