5G in Brazil in July
The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) approved a proposal by its technical group in early June, in which it was agreed that the deadline for the start of operation of the 5G network in Brazilian capitals will be extended until September 29 of this year.
Despite the change in the deadline, the schedule that provides for the entry of the signal into operation is maintained gradually until 2029 and the signal will be released earlier in cities where technical conditions already exist for such.
Anatel's technical group participated in the Teletime Inc event, held in São Paulo on the afternoon of the 4th, and approved the activation of the 5G network for the federal capital. This will already be done this Wednesday (06), while the next cities still don't have a set date for opening the service so far.
Band 3.5GHz
The 3.5GHz band, which is used by 5G, is also used in satellite TV signal transmission. In order to avoid interference, the signal from the satellite dishes will be transferred to another frequency band, while the 3.5 GHz band will be used exclusively for 5G. Therefore, Kits for reception of the new satellite TV signal will be distributed to the population shortly.
Change in antenna legislation
A considerable amount of capitals and other Brazilian municipalities will need to change municipal legislation in order to adapt to the rules of the General Law of Antennas. With this, the goal is to meet the need to install at least one antenna per 100,000 inhabitants.
5G should revolutionize connectivity in Brazil
5G technology will change people's lives and, above all, companies, as it will enable the interconnection between more devices simultaneously and allow for the evolution of Internet of Things (IoT), since devices with 5G will increase the speed of data transfer and will have up to 90% savings in the energy consumption of devices.
