Anatel releases 5G connection to more than 347 municipalities

Last Monday, February 27, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) released the 5G internet signal to more than 347 counties from Brazil. Thus, the pure band of the connection will begin to be transmitted in new places. Continue reading and see where to take advantage.

In all, there are now 23 states with access to the new internet connection. About 86 million Brazilians, equivalent to 40% of the population, can already start using 5G. There are 487 locations that can access the fastest internet on the market right now. The connection, in addition to being faster, is sustainable and responds faster to the stimulus provided, allowing more and more people to have access to the connection.

Juscelino Filho, Minister of Communications of Brazil, stated that his portfolio will continue to charge for a quality service:

In addition to monitoring the implementation of technology throughout the country, we charge operators with regard to quality service, as both the Ministry of Communications and Anatel have received complaints from users”.

Anatel releases the 5G connection to these locations

Divided by states, this is the number of municipalities that now guarantee access to 5G:

  • Minas Gerais: 50 cities;
  • Goiás: 48 cities;
  • Paraná: 32 cities;
  • Rio Grande do Sul: 33 cities;
  • Santa Catarina: 21 cities;
  • Ceará: 18 cities;
  • Bahia: 17 cities;
  • Rio de Janeiro: 15 cities;
  • São Paulo: 13 cities;
  • Rio Grande do Norte: 14 cities;
  • Maranhão: 13 cities;
  • Piauí: 12 cities;
  • Amazon: 12 cities;
  • Alagoas: 11 cities;
  • Pernambuco 9 cities;
  • Tocantins: 9 cities;
  • Roraima: 4 cities;
  • Paraíba: 6 cities;
  • Sergipe: 3 cities;
  • Mato Grosso: 3 cities;
  • Rondônia: 1 city;
  • Amapá: 2 cities;
  • Pará: 1 city.

Arrived, but not quite

Although cities already have access, the signal may still not be on. That's because the carriers of municipalities need to apply to Anatel for a license to activate the 5G product in these locations. The deadline established by the agency guarantees that all connection providers will be able to organize themselves.

All adaptation stages must continue until 2029.

Anatel established a schedule with the order of services that need to be updated. By July of this year, for example, municipalities should update the number of antennas in the states.
