At the beginning of this year, the news of the offer of airline tickets sold at R$ 200 excited many people who like to travel or who dream of “flying” for the first time.
However, contrary to what was imagined, getting on board an aircraft has become even more expensive, as some companies are charging an extra fee for passengers carrying hand luggage.

The practice is not prohibited by the Consumer Protection Code (CDC), but some experts hope that the measure will be properly regulated.
In this case, it would be up to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to act to supervise and stipulate conditions for charging the fee.
Those who take hand luggage on the trip will pay more for it
Sending extra baggage has always been something that could be charged as an additional service in many situations. However, previously, carry-on bags and backpacks did not have to go through this type of taxation during the trip.
What happens is that some companies, as widely publicized in the vehicles traditional press services, charge a kind of “premium” service. Thus, the passenger would have the option of paying an extra amount to get on the plane before the others and guarantee space for his carry-on bag.
In this case, people paying for the service would enter right after the preferential passengers, determined by Law 10.048/2000. They are: seniors over 60 years old, pregnant women, nursing mothers, people with infants, obese people and people with disabilities.
There are other companies that give preference to hand luggage for customers who subscribe to benefit clubs, for example. Each company takes the measure that it defined as the best in this regard.
Is the practice abusive?
For many consumers, the practice of such charging is abusive, as it limits the passengers who are only carrying light and small belongings. Or even hurt those who don't want to check bags differently.
However, there is no term in the laws that prohibits charging or offering this type of condition by airlines.
