A company in the United States of America (USA) is suing a couple for a bad review on Google. The Washington-based couple rated the company Executive Roof Service (ERS) with just one star. The lawsuit seeks $112,000 in damages for defamation and willful interference with business.
In an article released on Yahoo, one of the members of the couple says that he was terrified by the news. Knepper said he cried when he heard about the action, as he does not have the money to pay a lawyer, much less the requested compensation.

Company repairs roofs
ERS is a company specialized in roofing and roof maintenance. The couple from Washington called the professionals to assess a leak in the roof of the house.
However, the experience was not the best. According to the couple, an ERS receptionist was rude in their service. Before that, the company had not continued the services, even after they were started.
“She [receptionist] refused to give me any information. I asked to speak to the manager and she laughed at me. He told me that he was verbally abusing her, that she was the office manager, and he hung up on me,” explained Knepper.
Due to the bad experience, the couple decided to rate the company with just one star on Google. This type of evaluation demonstrates total dissatisfaction with products and services. Other users can see the notes to decide whether or not to hire a particular service provider, for example.
The owner of ERS, Michael Mecham, would have sought out the two and asked them to remove the bad grade. “He told me he knew where I lived … and he would be happy to spend $100,000 suing me,” Knepper said.
The police were approached and asked Mecham not to disturb the customers anymore. from there the lawyers contacted the couple requesting the withdrawal of the note in the search engine.
The lawsuit, however, concerns the alleged intent to harm ERS with the comments. The case is still being followed up by the authorities.
