The unexpected rainy season will have repercussions in the south of the country, with rain showers on June 21st and 22nd (Wednesday and Thursday). However, the northern region of the country has a dry weather forecast.

In June, the country was already affected by the passage of the extratropical cyclone, which will also continue to bring dry and cold weather in the coming days. Another forecast for the coming months is for frost in southern Brazil, in Serra da Mantiqueira and in the southern region of the state of São Paulo.

What is El Niño?

To explain the influences of the weather event, it is important to explain its origin. El Niño is a natural phenomenon that causes global climate change through abnormal warming of the waters of the Pacific Ocean in the equatorial region. It affects the humidity and temperatures of many countries around the world.

The weather event is recorded at irregular intervals of five to seven years. Its permanence and its influence can be up to a year and a half.

It is common for the phenomenon to cause rain and drought in different regions of Brazil, in this case, the South and Southeast receive more rain and the North and Northeast are marked by dry weather during El Niño.

In 2023, the forecast remains in relation to the effects of the climate phenomenon. In September, the final month of winter, temperatures tend to rise, bringing heat waves to the state of São Paulo.
