The company N-Ark, creator of the Arca, specializes in innovation and focuses its work on reinventing coastal architecture for social purposes. This is the mindset at the forefront of the floating city project.
Floating city in Japan will have it all
According to information circulating in the Japanese press, the floating city will be called Dogen City and will have complete infrastructure for 40,000 people, as already mentioned.
It will have tourism sectors, hospitals and even an area for launching space rockets. Dogen City would be a solution to possible future sea level rise caused by Earth's climate change.
The development of the floating city was born from the New Ocean innovation project, in a public-private partnership in Japan. As mentioned, the objective is to promote solutions against natural disasters that may occur in the future.
More details about Japan's 'Noah's Ark'
With the capacity to receive about 30,000 tourists a month, Dogen City, according to N-Ark, was designed to withstand various weather conditions, including the possibility of a tsunami.
According to data provided by the company, the city will consume around 2 million liters of water annually, it will produce 3,288 tons of waste, 7,000 tons of food and 22,265,000 KW of energy.
The city has a diameter of approximately 1.58 km and a circumference of 4 km, following the Japanese concept known as “1 ri, 1 hora”. Although it functions like a city, the habitability resembles that of a small village.
As pointed out by the authorities involved in the floating city project, completion is scheduled for 2050. Until then, new information about Dogen City should be released gradually by the world press.
