What color are the Crocs and socks?
This optical illusion can be seen through a YouTube video from the channel “Best Illusion of the Year Contest”. In it, there are several visual tricks that compete with each other to see which one is the best. Among them is the Crocs and Socks challenge, which begins with the presentation of two different pairs of shoes that we can see in pink and green.
Soon after, another pair of Crocs appears in the video, but in a different color, with gray shoes and green socks. So, our first intention is to believe that the objects were changed in relation to the first ones exposed. But that's not the truth, because it's the same pink Crocs that you saw earlier.
Why do we see differently?
In this case, the trick is a change in lighting, which makes pink objects appear gray and white objects as if they were green. It is a green lighting, which in contact with these specific colors can result in this change in perception. Thus, it is possible to notice how easily our eyes can be deceived, and how much this influences our beliefs in the world.
Even illusionists emphasize how much we create true beliefs from what we see. On the other hand, it also shows the power of good lighting, which can transform any environment in the blink of an eye!
