The newspaper The New York Post reported this Thursday (20) one of the most unusual cases of recent times. A Canadian black bear simply broke into a car to "steal" and drink 69 cans of soda.
According to Jam Press, the news agency that reported the case firsthand, the animal invaded the Canadian Sharon Rosel, who was parked near her house, in a wooded area in the city of Vancouver, in the Canada.

Sharon released photos of the damage done by the bear, which destroyed part of the body of her car to access the box where the drinks were. In the images, it is also possible to see dozens of soda cans completely destroyed.
The woman says that she had stored 72 cans of soda in her car to take on a trip. However, in the middle of the night she was awakened by the barking of her dogs, who were trying to scare away the invading bear.
Rosel recalls that, when observing from afar, it was still possible to see the animal attacking his vehicle. In addition to the dented bodywork, the bear broke a window and destroyed part of the car's upholstery.
Most of those taken by Sharon were taken in the morning of the day after the attack, when the woman was finally able to approach and check the damage done to her car.
In another account, Sharon Rosel said that the black bear that damaged her car in search of soft drinks still came back the next night, but, seeing that she would not get anything, she soon left.
But why did the bear attack the car?
Sharon told Jam Press that, because she lives in a relatively remote area, she never leaves garbage or food scraps near her house, precisely to avoid the presence of bears.
However, the woman says that this situation took her completely by surprise, as she never imagined that a bear could sniff out soda cans inside a car.
To understand the case, it is necessary to bear in mind that the sense of smell of an adult bear is about seven times stronger than that of a hunting dog. In turn, hunting dogs can have a sense of smell 10 to 20 times more acute than a human being.
On its website, the NGO Sunshine Coast Bear Alliance, which promotes actions for the defense and preservation of bears in North America, explains better about the powerful smell of this animal.
“Bears can be attracted by the slightest scent in your car, like a candy wrapper or scented air freshener,” he reveals. “Keep the vehicle windows closed and locked and the doors locked to avoid damage or a surprise encounter”, recommends the NGO.
A case similar to that of Sharon Rosel happened in 2021 in Colorado, United States. On the occasion, another black bear broke into a car to try to get some beer bottles, but without success.
In addition to not being able to access the box that stored the drinks, the animal was also unable to get out of the car very easily, which led him to destroy the interior of the vehicle.
After many attempts, the bear managed to get out of the car, destroying the lock and window of one of the car's doors.
