Difference between frittata and quiche

Basically, the two recipes use eggs in their preparation and can contain fillings with vegetables, meats, cheeses, soy, among others, and combine with any time of the day. Be it breakfast, snack, lunch or dinner.

However, regarding the differences, the most striking factor that differs a quiche from a frittata is that the frittata is like a quiche without a crust, or, in other words, an unfolded omelette.

Frittata

Frittata or frittata, is a dish of Italian origin, based on eggs and resembles an omelette or scrambled eggs, filled with various additional ingredients, as mentioned earlier. The word frittata is also of Italian origin and can be translated as “fried”.

quiche

A quiche, in turn, is a tasty baked pie, which necessarily has a crust consisting of a puff pastry or a potato crust. Unlike omelettes and frittatas, which do not necessarily need a dairy item in the recipe, quiche's differential is whole milk, which needs to be part of the preparation.

way of preparation

In addition to the ingredients, the cooking method of the two preparations is also different. While the quiche needs to go in the oven for about 25 to 45 minutes to bake and form the crust, a frittata can be made quickly in a skillet, preferably non-stick.

Origin

Another striking difference between the two preparations is in relation to their origin, as the quiche originated in France in the 17th century. While the frittata is much younger, it was created in Italy, as we mentioned earlier, around the 1950s.
