3 steps for young people to succeed

To dribble the effects of social networks in a generation that is so addicted to technology and the internet, you need to follow some steps to succeed.

Check out three steps to success by ignoring the excessive 'noise' of social networks below.

1st step: do some research on its use

For the next three days, keep a record of your everyday habits with the social networks you use. First make a spreadsheet and whenever you pick up the phone, observe and write down the following information:

  • Date and time you make use of;
  • What apps do you access the most;
  • How long you stay in the app;
  • Why are you using this app and what are you feeling at the moment;
  • What are you doing when using the app;
  • How do you feel after using the app?

Step 2: What positive changes can be made?

You may find that you end up using Instagram first thing in the morning for about 30 minutes. But when you're done, you'll feel anxious about the rest of the day ahead.

Consider locking the app until the end of the workday so you don't lose focus on what's important right now. Set a time limit of no more than 10 minutes for usage. Also, mute any accounts that could put you in a negative mental space.

Step 3: Set aside time for monthly check-ins

A significant part of this exercise involves the influences in your life, not just those on social media. So try to make a list of all the people who are closest to you and how they affect you once a month. This is an excellent exercise for you to limit those that make you successful or keep you away from your goal.
