Priority also refers to a condition provided by law that some people have service order preference in certain services, being able to pass ahead of others in queues, for example.
Usually this possibility is granted to the elderly, the physically handicapped, pregnant women and people accompanied with babies or small children.
Priority also exists in access to justice. In this case, according to the law, some people have preference in the progress of their processes, as occurs with the elderly and people with serious illnesses or deficiencies.
Example:
“This place is reserved for priority. Only the elderly, disabled and pregnant women can sit here”.

In transit systems, the term priority refers to the granting of vehicle passage on a particular road. Normally, when there is priority for passing vehicles, the lane must have the proper signs.
