How did the discovery take place?

According to sources linked to the Peruvian press, everything started with a group of students from University of San Marcos who, along with some researchers, carried out an excavation unpretentious.

At first, only the remains of hair and a skull were found. In order to discover more things, the excavations were continued until the remainder of the mummy came to light.

As reported by one archaeologist who participated in the excavations, some assumptions were made, including that the mummy belonged to the Mantay culture, which developed in the Lima valleys in the years 1500 to 1000 BC. W.

This culture also became well known thanks to the temples built in the shape of a U and which pointed towards the sunrise.

For the same archaeologist, the mummified body went to the place where it was found there through a sacrificial offering during the last phase of construction of a temple in the surroundings.

Other items were unearthed along with the mummy. Among them, maize grains, coca leaves and seeds stand out. For those responsible for the find, these items were part of the aforementioned offering.

Other tests are being done on the mummy to establish other information, such as the mummified person's age and gender.
