Fauvism is an artistic current from the beginning of the 20th century allied to painting, having as one of its characteristics the maxim pictorial expression, where colors are used with intensity, and others, such as the simplification of shapes, the study of Colors. His themes were light, and had no critical intent, revealing only emotions and joy in life.
Colors were used pure, to delimit planes, create perspective and shape volume. The chain is named after Louis Vauxcelles. This called some artists “Les Fauves” (which means “beasts” in Portuguese) in an exhibition in 1905, because there was a conventional statue of a boy surrounded by paintings in this new style. The principles of this movement were:- Creating, in art, is not related to the intellect or feelings;
- To create is to consider the impulses of instinct and primary sensations;
- Exaltation of pure color.
