Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching and Tutoring in Education. These are the specializations in Education, in the distance modality, offered by the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) – 1,000 vacancies for each one of them – with registrations open until 15th of September.
For the acting director of the Digital and Distance Education Agency, Daiani Damm Tonetto Riedner, “the specialization in Tutoring aims to prepare professionals for the exercise of the function, based on the mediation of online learning, considering theoretical, technological, technical, pedagogical and contextual aspects that involve the processes of teaching and learning in environments online. The postgraduate course in Applied Linguistics proposes to train teachers in the area of language/language teaching and learning, focusing on methodological trends in different educational contexts”.

Those who have a graduation diploma (which must be completed by the deadline for the respective enrollment) or sequential specific training are eligible to participate. Free registrations can be made through the portal posgraduacao.ufms.br. In time: once the application is completed, the candidate will no longer be able to change or add attachments.
For the delivery of distance courses, the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) of UFMS will be used. Of the total vacancies made available, one hundred of them will be allocated to so-called affirmative vacancies, in addition to another 50 reserved for UFMS Digital tutors.
“The courses have a duration of 18 months, 360 hours of workload, with 12 months for completing the credits of eight disciplines and six months for preparing the final course work. They are remote, asynchronous and with online tutoring. In addition to the contents, the activities and assessments are also centralized in the AVA UFMS”, informs the director of the agency.
In the case of the Tutoring course, the subjects stand out: Fundamentals of Distance Education, Neuroscience and Learning, Tutoring and Mediation of Learning, Assessment of Learning in EaD, Digital Technologies for EaD, Online Learning Management, Open Educational Resources, Planning and Production of Didactic Materials Digital.
The Linguistics course covers disciplines such as: Transculturalities and Education, (Multi) Translingual Decolonial Literacies, Languages and Digital Technologies; Languages, Discourses and Hypermedia, Languages and Identities, Literature and Society, Language Policies and Diversity.
"It is important to emphasize that the selection process will only use the criterion 'classification order' of candidates within of the respective group for which the same is running for a vacancy (wide competition, digital UFMS tutor or affirmative actions). Thus, qualified candidates will be ranked in descending order of the date and time of their submission”, concludes Daiani.
