5 Second Rule: What is it?
The 5 Second Rule is a technique that, when applied correctly, promises to provide a hyper-intent, curbing negative thoughts that could undermine your confidence, as it only gives you a five-second window to focus on that opportunity and actually take action.
Thus, it is a communication tool that you can use when you need to perform an action that you do not want or that shake your confidence in some way, and it can help you to exchange justifications and “excuses” for courage and action positive.
How to put the 5 second rule into practice
To use this tool is very simple, just follow the instructions below:
Before making a decision, think and count the 5 seconds slowly, then make your decision and don't go back. Therefore, the idea behind this technique is that you act without even thinking about it a second time.
What will you achieve with this technique:
- Put an end to self-sabotage;
- Going over fear and insecurity;
- Exit automatic mode;
- Be self-confident;
- Have the courage to go after your dreams.
Why is this 5 second rule so powerful?
In practice, the 5 second rule will only be useful if you are 100% committed to your decision, to your choice. In other words, take this rule seriously and do whatever you want after the five seconds count down. Thus, you will be more focused and less prone to indecision.
The goal here is to start eliminating tasks that have been neglected over time due to lack of choice. As a result, you can start doing everything you've always wanted to do but keep putting off for various reasons.
