The portals YourTango and ForbesWoman conducted a survey for women asking them a simple question: would you marry someone who is unemployed? 75% of them said they would not marry. In addition, 65% completed saying that they would not marry if they were unemployed.

Unemployment problem

According to Andrea Miller, founder of the YourTango portal, the increase in the unemployment rate is a problem in several countries that can harm the number of marriages. Even more so for women who prioritize a financially stable partner, or who seek their own monetary independence.

For her, unemployment can be a big problem in relationships, as it generates a question of insecurity and a lack of trust in her spouse. Although they consider it important, 91% of women said they married for love and feelings, and not for money or interest.

40% of women who participated revealed that their work responsibilities could keep them up at night. The single women, on the other hand, said that their love life could be the factor that caused them insomnia. Still, 32% of women in relationships reported earning more than their partners and 50% said they would marry someone who earned less than them. However, 41% said they would not marry someone who earns much less than their salary.
