Understand Korean tradition
During the Jinju Lantern Festival, the tradition of the Battle of Jiinjuseong Fortress in the Imjin War (1592-1598) is resumed. The lanterns were used as a strategy to prevent enemy troops from crossing the Namgang River.
Today, to celebrate this achievement of the South Korean people, lanterns are thrown across the Namgang River and also used in parades by local students.
What most draws attention at the Lantern Festival are the vibrant and beautiful colors that make any place even more beautiful. The exhibition “Lights of Korea” still brings some other surprises to the public!
