Relative is an adjective used to characterize something like related from something else, demonstrating that there is a relationship or reference between them.
When it is said that a given situation is relative to another, for example, it means that the first is linked to the second, being a consequence or trigger of the latter.
The word relative can still be used to convey the idea of something that does not have a unique or absolute character, that is, that it has a relationship of dependence with something else.
Example: "Calculations should be made based on relative speed".
Another application for this adjective is to assign the meaning of something that happens by chance or accident.
Example: "Finding the love of your life is relative."
In the behavioral sphere, the expression "relative person" to refer to the individual who has a flexible behavior in relation to their actions and decisions. As a rule, these people tend to be more emotionally balanced, know how to impose limits on others, in addition to being able to plan and execute projects for life.
Relative pronoun
It consists of a class of pronouns used to replace a term present in a previous clause, making it not to be repeated. In this way a reference relationship between both clauses is created.
According to the grammar of the Portuguese language, the relative pronouns are divided into:
Variables: which/which; which / which; whose / whose; whose / whose; how much / how much; how many / how many.
Invariables: that (equivalent to "which" and inflections); who (equivalent to "which" and inflections); where (equivalent to "in which" and inflections).
