The phenomenon refers to fake news shared by the media. These contents tend to undermine a certain point of view to the detriment of a perspective on a subject.

With the internet, these contents are disseminated quickly causing different types of impacts on society.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (unesco) will hold a global forum in the city of Paris from the 21st to the 23rd of February.

The purpose of the event is to discuss the regulation of social networks and the combating misinformation and fake news.

UNESCO invited the President Lula, the vice president of Federal Supreme Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, and the digital influencer Felipe Neto to participate in the forum.

Fake news is fake news. These contents are published in communication vehicles, especially in messaging applications. It is in these spaces that they spread in an ungoverned way.

Fake messages are shared and read like real content. There is no verification process, a verification of where the news came from and whether it is in fact true.

People with less education and who depend on social networks to consume information become a target of fake news.

The term became known worldwide in 2016, due to the presidential elections of the U.S. At the time, false information about candidate Hillary Clinton was widely disseminated by voters in donald trump.

World forum against fake news

internet for trustis the name of UNESCO's global forum. It will be possible to follow some activities remotely. Applications can be made at this site.

The event will discuss a set of draft global guidelines for the regulation of digital platforms. The intent is to improve the reliability of information and protect freedom of expression and human rights.

One of the guidelines related to Brazil that should be mentioned and discussed in the forum will be the attacks that took place in the Planalto Palace and other public spaces Brasilia on the 8th of January of this year.

Minister Luís Roberto Barroso confirmed that he will go to Paris in person. He should comment on the risks caused by the lack of control over the use of social networks regarding attacks on democracy and attempts to coup d'etat.

Due to his agenda, President Lula should not go to the capital of France.
