Coronation of Charles III: what to study about the British royal family

Charles III he will be crowned King of the British Throne tomorrow, May 6th. The event will start at 11:00 in the UK (7:00 GMT) and is expected to be broadcast worldwide. President Lula should participate in the event.

King Charles' coronation will symbolize his accession to the British throne. But, it is worth remembering that, on September 8 of last year, when Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died, then Prince Charles had already ascended to the throne.

The coronation event will take place atWestminster Abbey, where British coronations have taken place since the 11th century. Camila, wife of Charles, will be crowned Queen Consort of the United Kingdom.

Charles's two children, William and Harry, are expected to attend the event, as are grandchildren George, Charlotte and Louis (William's children).

The last coronation of the British throne was held 70 years ago. In 1952, the Queen Elizabeth II took the throne and her coronation took place the following year.

What will the coronation of King Charles III be like?

The coronation of King Charles III will have a few stages. See the main ones below:

  • Route: Charles III and Camilla must travel from Buckingham Palace and travel 2.1 km to Westminster Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee Carriage.

  • Ceremony: first, the Archbishop of Cantergury will anoint Charles and Camilla with an oil called Holy Chrism. At the end of the event, Charles III will receive the royal instruments, such as the king's scepter and the crown of St. Edward.
