The International Day of Education is celebrated this Friday, April 28th. The date reinforces the importance of education in the development of humanity and social transformation.
On April 28, 2000, the World Education Forum was held in Dakar, Senegal. On the occasion, several countries signed commitments and goals related to the advancement of education in different nations. The document became recognized as the Dakar Declaration. Brazil was one of the signatory countries.
Since then, the date emphasizes the positive impacts that education has on relationships and human development.
"Education transforms the world, and changes in the world likewise impact the way of educating. We cannot expect teaching to remain the same in the face of significant advances in technology, and so many other factors that influence this process. Today we are moving towards a perspective in which the teacher guides rather than leads learning, with the student increasingly at the center of the process".
Michel Arthaud, professor of Chemistry - Plataforma Professor Ferretto
With changes in the technological field and advances in teaching and learning processes, education has gained new models.
A New Education or Education 4.0 is one of them. The researcher Judite Gauer conceptualizes this model as a set of physical and digital tools, creative and active methodologies, hybrid education that speak to the context and social reality.

Education 4.0
Education 4.0, according to Michel Arthaud, is based on phydigital teaching, which brings together the terms "physical" and "digital", referring to the integration between online and offline. Both provide active and personalized learning, points out the educator.
According to data from the 2021 Higher Education Census, the number of enrollments in undergraduate distance courses (EaD) grew by 274.3% in the last two years. In this sense, professor Michel believes in the expansion of this modality, "phydigital teaching is not a 'passing fad', but is here to stay", he argues.

Education 4.0 and leadership
The student in the Education 4.0 model is at the center of the learning process, and therefore assumes a leading role. In Michel's evaluation, students build their knowledge in the process of exchange and support from tutors and professors.
"This paradigm shift allows students to learn at their own pace and according to their own needs, creating a more personalized and engaging educational experience"
The model is related to the phenomenon of revolution, argues the professor. The promotion of inclusion and strengthening of democracy are associated with the transformation movement in education based on structures such as New Education, ponders the educator.

Benefits of Education 4.0
Check out the benefits of Education 4.0, according to Professor Michel Arthaud:
new skills
From the protagonism of students, the study process is consolidated beyond the absorption of knowledge.
With a more active role, students develop 'skills' such as creativity, good communication, interpersonal relationship with colleagues and teachers, as well as empathy, Michel list.
The teacher highlights that skills such as critical thinking and problem solving are also learned and improved from this model. "This approach allows students to become more independent and confident in their own ability to learn, which is key to long-term success."
Learning with practical projects
Among the possibilities of this educational model are working with practical projects.
In these initiatives, students are challenged to solve real problems. In this process, they develop research based on scientific knowledge that requires different types of approaches.
From there, one of the observations made by Arthaud is that the student comes to understand his role in society with the sharing of information from these activities.
Greater autonomy
Students' autonomy and independence are improved and qualified in Education 4.0, they begin to realize that they can control their own knowledge.
The role of tutors and teachers is to guide, conduct and take notes, but it is the students who are the protagonists of learning, according to Michel.
Closer relationship between educators and students
The intention is that in this New Education, the relationship between student and teacher becomes closer and more consistent, based on the aspect of trust.
The process becomes permeated by exchanges of experiences. Classes gain more fluid dimensions and promote the school environment as a space for growth and not oppression, argues the chemistry teacher.
Technologies are great allies in Education 4.0 and physical education. Learning is built from interactive and multimedia resources.
