Stress can damage teeth

Everyone has heard that the mouth is the personal business card, a person's smile can lead them to be considered good looking or more or less looking, especially if a tooth is missing, or if it is yellowish. Every part of the mouth is evaluated in terms of appearance and oral health. It is important to always maintain basic oral hygiene care, associated with periodic medical appointments. But whoever thinks that these measures free their mouths from certain inconveniences is wrong.

Dentists are increasingly convinced that oral health is also linked to emotional stress, that is, what emotions too strong can result in oral problems, including the emergence of thrush, gingivitis, bruxism, decay, tartar and the bad breath. Because each type of emotions causes the release of some substances, which cause oral problems. Emotional stress causes reactions capable of disturbing organic homeostasis (the body's self-regulatory property that maintains the body's state of balance).

When we find ourselves stressed, saliva volume decreases and sulfur compounds increase, resulting in bad breath. But it is not only situations of anxiety and/or family problems that cause these problems in the mouth, the good news is also good. they are part of the oral villains, when good news is received, hormones such as adrenaline, norepinephrine and acetylcholine are released, etc. Which dangerously alter the quantity and quality of saliva. Many studies are being carried out to make an accurate measure of the damage caused to the mouth by emotional stress.
