Session, Section or Section and Assignment: when to use?

The words session and section (or section) are spelled correctly. Despite the different spellings, they present the same pronunciation, with the exception of the word section, which ç is pronounced.

Because they are pronounced the same but are spelled differently, they are called homophone words. According to its spelling, each one of them has a different meaning.

session: time for a date

It is time for a meeting, a meeting, an assembly.

Examples:

  1. We will be late for movie session.
  2. Today the photoshoot will be abroad.
  3. THE therapy session is late.
  4. The senators met in extraordinary session.
  5. The president is on his way to solemn session.
  6. I was looking forward to the first tattoo session.

Section and Section: division

It is a subdivision, a segment, a division, part of a whole.

Section and section therefore have the same meaning but have different graphic forms. In Brazil, the most common form is section, while in Portugal it is section.

Both forms are allowed in the New orthographic agreement.

Examples:

  1. We will publish the article in policy section (or section).
  2. that girl works in my section.
  3. I changed my state, so I need to know what my polling station.
  4. Could you please tell me where the children's book section (or section)?
  5. reads only the sports section.
  6. Look for it in dairy section.

And Assignment?

This is another homophone word that joins the session or section.

Assignment is the act of giving in, giving, giving up.

Examples:

  1. the singer made the assignment of your rights copyright.
  2. THE salon assignment reduced party costs.
  3. The minutes included the assignment of shares of society.
  4. Lender and debtor knew nothing about the credit assignment.
  5. Finally, the exploration assignment was agreed between the lawyers.
  6. THE material assignment requested will be done tomorrow morning.
