The two expressions, us and us, are correct, they exist in the Portuguese language and are frequently used by speakers. The word we, as you may already know, is a straight personal pronoun that indicates the idea of a group. The word people is a noun that can also perform the function of a pronominal locution and, when exercising this function in the sentence, it acquires the same semantic value as the we. What does that mean? It means that the expressions us and us are synonymous. See an example:

You may have noticed that the meaning was not altered when we replaced the straight personal pronoun with the pronominal locution, didn't you? What has changed is the verbal conjugation. the pronoun we should be used with the verb conjugated in the first person plural, while the phrase wemust be accompanied by the conjugated verb in the third person singular, as it is equivalent to the personal pronoun Is it over there. Many language scholars consider the form we incorrect, saying that the best thing is to choose the pronoun we. But the truth is that most speakers prefer the we to the we, As we know that the speakers are the true owners of the language, it is difficult to control the use of the expression, authoritatively assert that it is wrong and prevent people from exercising their right to choose how to speak. This is the point of view of sociolinguistics.
