When the teacher asks you to do a narration, you know which elements to use, right? how do you know that narrate means tell a story, then choose the best words to build your text. The narration is one of five text types which are predefined in the Portuguese language. How about getting to know the other types, starting with the narration itself?
☺Narration:The main characteristic of a narration is to tell a story, whether it is true or not. You can use elements such as time, space and characters to make your narrative even more interesting. It is the textual type we find in short stories, chronicles, fables, biographies etc.
☺ Dissertation: This is the type of text you can write with the intention of convincing someone of your ideas. Being an opinionated text is the main characteristic of a dissertation — textual type found in essays, argumentative letters, argumentative dissertations, editorials etc.
☺ Exposure: In this type of text, the main characteristic is the presentation of information about an object or a fact through clear and concise language. It is found in text genres report, abstract, record, scientific article, seminar etc.
☺ Injunction: With the use of imperative verbs, injunctive texts are intended to teach, guide or instruct the interlocutor. This type of text is found in the instruction manuals, cooking recipes, leaflets, regulations, notices etc.
☺ Description: Descriptive texts are intended to describe things, people or situations. It can be an objective or subjective description, being found in literary texts, reports, minutes, travel guides etc.
Unlike the gtextual numbers, which are diverse and adaptable to our communicational needs, there are only five types and they support this variety of genres. Types are always ready to receive genres, presenting well-defined characteristics, such as their own vocabulary, logical relationships, verb tenses and phrasal constructions.
