New words in the Aurélio dictionary

Through the text "Neologisms” you could see that as time goes by, some words become part of our vocabulary, even if they are not yet portrayed in the dictionary. This is considered normal, as the language we speak is dynamic, that is, it innovates according to the changes that are operating in society and, consequently, in the relationships established between the people.

In accordance with this notion, in our meeting we are going to get to know some words brought up by the most recent edition of the Aurélio dictionary, one of the best known and used by users. In celebration of the author's centenary (1910 – 1989), the publisher Positive published a fifth edition, which brings in its content more than three thousand words, from those most frequent in everyday life to those that make part of the digital universe, precisely to reveal the innovations we've already talked about, since we are currently surrounded by advancement technological.

You're probably curious to meet them, isn't it? So get ready, as they are listed below - all followed by their respective meanings:

Bandeide (Portuguese Portuguese Band-aid) – registered trademark of dressing;

Data-show – video projection device;

Ecobag – biodegradable material bag;

Enem – acronym for the National High School Exam;

Backpacker – who travels with little luggage;

Pet shop – pet service store;

Test drive – evaluation of the performance of a vehicle when driving it;

E-book – [engl.]- Male noun. V. eBook.

Tablet – [English] – Male noun. Information 1 – Computer for personal use that has a touch-sensitive screen. 2. Special type of pen, used to record notes directly on the computer screen.

Spam – [English] – Male noun. Information Advertising message or not, received via e-mail, without the user's consent or request.

Blogging – Intransitive verb. Keep a blog (when it comes to internet users). [Conjugation: beg.]

Tweet – [twitt (er) + -ar2]- Intransitive verb. 1. Post comments, information, photos, etc. on twitter. Usually of a personal or institutional character. 2. Keep track of facts, ideas, information, etc. recorded by someone on their twitter. [spouse: to judge.]

In the case of the latter, they represent words that belong to the vocabulary of so-called Internet users. Even so, the word “internetes” itself doesn't appear among the others that belong to the same category, but who knows as soon as we can see it, right?
