By the way, the term “pronoun” doesn't cause you any strangeness, doesn't it? But even so, we will remember a little more about them, so that we can fully understand the subject we are going to deal with now.
We know that the pronoun, in addition to belonging to the grammatical classes , is classified as that word that accompanies or replaces the noun, indicating its position in relation to the three people in the speech (me, you, he), such as: my book, that one boy, nobody arrived, among other examples.
Thus, we also recall that this class of pronouns has different classifications, subdividing into personal pronouns of the straight case and of the oblique, treatment pronouns, demonstrative, possessive, relative, indefinite and interrogative pronouns - which we will know in this article.
When we talk about interrogative pronouns, we should think about that little punctuation mark (?) used to ask questions. By doing this, we are able to understand why these pronouns are classified as such, since they are used in the formulation of questions, made directly or indirectly. Let's see some examples?
How many students came to class? – direct question
It is unknown how many students came to class – indirect question.
Now that we know the function of interrogative pronouns, we will know what they are, since they exist those that can go to the plural, that is, that can be inflected, and those that cannot, also called invariables.
Another detail that we cannot forget is that these pronouns, as well as the Indefinite Pronouns , refer to the third person (he, she, they, they) in a vague, indefinite way.
