Importance of water for our body

We all know we should drink Water daily in relatively large amounts, isn't it? However, have you ever wondered what role water plays in our bodies? Next, let's find out why drinking water is so important!

Water performs the most diverse functions in our body, even being part of the composition of the organism. In an adult person, it is estimated that 60% of their total weight corresponds to water, which is stored inside the cell and also outside it, mainly in the plasma.

In addition to composing our body, water promotes carrying out chemical reactions, since, in most cases, the substance must be in an aqueous solution for the reaction to take place. At this point, it is important to highlight the incredible capacity of water to dissolve substances, being even called universal solvent.

the water too ensures that substances are transported by the body, ensuring that every cell in the body receives nutrients and oxygen. This is possible because it is, through the blood, which has large amounts of water, these substances are taken away.

In addition to carrying substances to cells, water also helps transport bad substances so they can be eliminated. Urine is a good example of this role played by water, as it is through it that large amounts of toxic substances and excess are eliminated in the body.

Water is also important for the regulation of our temperature, since it is part of the composition of the sweat. On hot days, when sweat is eliminated by the skin, it evaporates, which causes our temperature to drop due to heat loss. In this way, sweat prevents the body from overheating and collapsing.

THE protection of our body it is also related to water-rich substances. An example is the so-called cerebrospinal fluid found protecting the brain and spinal cord. In addition, we can mention amniotic fluid, which protects the baby during pregnancy, synovial fluid, which protects the joints, and tears, which protect our eyes.

ATTENTION: According to the Ministry of Health, a person must drink at least two liters of water daily. This amount must be increased if there is the practice of physical activities and on hot days.
